Mission Statement:
To promote and support heart healthy lifestyle choices by working
with people who live and work in the Region of Peel. The ultimate
goal is to prevent heart disease, which is the number one of
cause of death in the Region of Peel.
Description:
The Peel Heart Health Network was established in January 1990
when a group of over 25 individuals organization interested in
heart health met to share program information and ideas for a
healthier community. On May 1, 1992 the Network officially
launched the Healthy at Heart campaign.
Core Messages:
The five overall messages are: live smoke-free; keep active; eat
less fat, more fibre; know your blood pressure and take time to
relax.
Activities:
Healthy at Heart Awards, Restaurant Program, Ticker the mascot
available for community events, speakers’ bureau, The Pump
Press newsletter, educational activities for children and quit
smoking programs.
