Q. What is the Brigade?
A. The St. John Ambulance Brigade is an efficient and effective group of volunteers trained to provide first aid and health care at public events. Brigade members are the link between the occurance of injury or illness and the arrival of medical assistance.

Q. What qualifications do I need?
A. All you need to join the Brigade is a current Standard First Aid Certificate and a genuine interest and willingness to serve your community. We will provide extensive training that will qualify you as an independent patient care provider and keep your skills current.

Q. How much time do I need to give?
A. The average Brigade member contributes 3 to 4 hours per week - a minimum of 60 hours per year. Brigade volunteers tend to contribute many hours every year - because it is rewarding and fun!

Q. How old do I have to be?
A. If you are:

  • 18 years or older join the St. John Ambulance Brigade
  • St. John Ambulance also has youth programs for all ages:

    6-10 years old - Join the St. John Juniors

    11-15 years old - join the St. John Cadets

    16-20 years old - join the St. John Crusaders

Q. How will the public know I am a first aid provider?
A. Brigade members ae recognised by their distinct uniforms and the St. John Ambulance Logo.
