Tax Preparation Regarding Learning Disabilities (cont'd.)
individual who is attending as an eligible expense.
In order to claim any of the above eligible expenses,
one needs to provide written documentation that the individual indeed
does have a learning disability ( a letter from a doctor or
psychologist( along with original receipts of services purchased (please
keep a copy for your files). When it comes to tutoring services,
guidelines have not been established by Revenue Canada regarding the
qualifications of tutoring service providers.
I hope the above provides you with some guidelines as
you prepare your income tax return. Remember, it is important to keep
copies of all your receipts to be eligible to claim any of these
expenses under the Medical Expenses Tax Credit of the Income Tax Act.
